Everlast thrilled to launch highly anticipated new music video on Crackle

Everlast

Once best known for his tenure in the rap unit House of Pain, Everlast successfully reinvented himself in 1998 with the best-selling Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, a largely acoustic, hip-hop-flavored effort in the genre-crossing mold of Beck.

After appearing on Santana's vaunted comeback album Supernatural, Everlast began work on a follow-up with an eclectic group of guest artists. Titled Eat at Whitey's, the album was released in late 2000, and enjoyed critical notice even if it wasn't quite as succesful as Whitey Ford. Everlast then returned in 2004 with the moody, more song-driven White Trash Beautiful.

Everlast's true self emerged on Whitey Ford Sings the Blues. Hip-hop was now just one of many ingredients in his sound, and he was as likely to pick up an acoustic guitar as bust a hard-core rap groove. Mixing guitars and beats was no gimmick but a genuine statement of self, landing him close to Beck's musical territory.

"Folsom Prison Blues," the video of the new single from multi-platinum Grammy winner Everlast's upcoming album, Love, War and the Ghost of Whitey Ford, will be the first major artist clip to premiere on Crackle, Inc., Sony Pictures Entertainment's multi-platform video entertainment network, available on the Internet, in the living room and on devices.

The video of the Johnny Cash song will began airing July 7th. Love, War and the Ghost of Whitey Ford is scheduled for release on Sept. 23rd on Everlast's own Martyr Inc. label and TRP Records, in a partnership with Hickory Records, an imprint of Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

"We're thrilled to launch Everlast's highly anticipated new music video on Crackle," said Crackle GM Jonathan Shambroom. "This launch marks the site's first major artist music video debut on the site, and we're excited to bring yet another new form of entertainment to our viewers. Our audience expects the newest, hottest high-quality content, and we're confident Everlast's video will live up to their expectations."
