Lifetime Networks has launched the 2008 "Every Woman Counts" bus tour to engage women in the political process this election season, and some of the women of Country music are getting involved to promote the campaign.
Show Dog Nashville sister trio Carter's Chord has written and recorded the theme song for the campaign, called "Make It Count." The song will be used in on-air spots promoting the tour and in a video montage documenting the tour on Lifetime's YouTube Channel.
MCA Records star Reba McEntire and Valory Music Co. artist Jewel have also recorded segments that will air at each stop on the bus tour, with the running theme of "If I Were President..."
Lifetime Executive VP/Public Affairs Meredith Wagner said, "Lifetime and our partners are dedicated to sparking a national dialogue among women and equipping them with the tools necessary to engage them in politics. The bus tour was created to connect with women in their hometowns on the issues that matter most to them and to inspire them to register and vote. Thirty-five million eligible women did not vote in the 2004 presidential election, and we are committed to changing this statistic as part of our Every Woman Counts campaign."
The tour is already in progress and makes it next few stops in Albuquerque, Denver and Kansas City, MO. For more information, check out www.everywomancounts08.com and www.mylifetime.com.
