Jewel, who has teamed up with Mary Kay as a spokesperson for their "A Kiss for Country" initiative to eliminate domestic violence, puckered up this month, leaving lip prints and an autograph to be auctioned for the charity.
"It's a topic that's close to my heart. I was homeless for a year and saw first hand how sometimes the streets can be safer than what's at home," Jewel said during an event at the Morning Star Sanctuary domestic violence shelter near Nashville to promote the initiative.
As for her life now, Jewel says it's a far cry from her days on the streets. "We have a pretty normal life at least what's normal to me having grown up on a ranch," she says of the working Texas ranch she shares with longtime boyfriend Ty Murray. Lately Jewel has been on the road touring with Brad Paisley.
