Metallica has not made any official announcement about its long awaited new studio album, but Amazon.com is already taking pre-orders and has it listed as coming out on October 28th.
There's no title for the CD yet, but since the band is playing some festival dates this summer, it's a safe bet that the album will be out in the fall.
It will be the follow-up to their 2003 CD, "St. Anger" and the band's 9th studio release.
The band will continue with its limited edition series of vinyl re-releases. Next up is "Master Of Puppets." Like their first two albums, this one will be available as a standard LP on 180-gram vinyl, or as a two-disc set of 12-inches running at 45 rpm.
Look for both versions in stores on June 17th.
Meanwhile, Metallica is set to do a benefit concert Wednesday night at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. All proceeds will go to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music
The band also wants to let you in on their recording process. The metal monsters have set up a new website: missionmetallica.com, where you can see them in the studio, working on their new album, which doesn't have a title yet, but is expected to be out in September. The site will be updated all the time with exclusive content, and chances for you to win cool stuff from the band.
